Amazon.co.uk Review
The Beatles' last days as a band were as productive as any major pop phenomenon that was about to split. After recording the ragged-but-right Let It Be, the group held on for this ambitious effort, an album that was to become their best-selling. Though all four contribute to the first side's writing, John Lennon's hard-rocking, "Come Together" and "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" make the strongest impression. A series of song fragments edited together in suite form dominates side two; its portentous, touching, official close ("Golden Slumbers" / "Carry That Weight" / "The End") is nicely undercut, in typical Beatles fashion, by Paul McCartney's cheeky "Her Majesty", which follows. --Rickey Wright

Just like the old days
Review date: 2010-06-28 Rating: 10 out of 10
Bought this to replace my lost music and wondered if the Stereo version would be any good, well I've got to say.., I am very impressed with the results..., Just a shame it's released in a cardboard sleeve.
The Masterpiece
Review date: 2010-05-30 Rating: 10 out of 10
And so it came to the end of The Beatles and they were to go their seperate ways and the world would never be the same again...and yet before they left us they gifted us with their masterpiece...
This is without doubt my favourite Beatles album and indeed one of my altime favourite albums of all time - it has seen me through some low and troubled times amd has never failed to lift my spirits...
there is not a weak track on this offering all are simply wonderful...but it is what I call side two - referring back to the original vinyl - starting with 'Here comes the sun' and ending with 'The End'that for me is one of the most perfect collection of songs ever assembled... but do not neglect side one especially 'Oh Darling' and I want you (she's so heavy)...in fact as a complete listening experience simply press play and sit back and listen to just how good a rock band can be when they are called The Beatles.
Corrupt CD

The CD was defective on receipt, several tracks 'stuck'. However, I sent E-mail explaining situation and CD was promptly replaced, no questions, immediately. Gave me confidence to use them again.
After you, Cecil. No, after you, Cuthbert...

This is not a review of the music. I devoured everything The Beatles had recorded between the ages of 10 and 15
and I still love the songs. However, that was on vinyl, and I didn't buy a CD until the latest round of remasterings.
Sadly, this remastering doesn't have a "rock" sound at all, but something more appropriate to The Sound of Music or Mary Poppins.
Inoffensive musical theatre or cabaret, in other words. There is no edge whatsoever. The vocals in particular are
just so much candy floss. Furthermore, the mastering -- crassly manipulated to sound better on those instruments of torture
known as MP3 players (and their ilk) -- makes the band sound merely functional -- more like the League of Gentlemen's
Creme Brulée than the dynamic band we hear -- and see -- on Let It Be.
I'll give this version one more listen, at high volume. Maybe that will improve things a bit. But otherwise, I shall be passing it on
and waiting until someone does right by this wonderful music and provides a listenable recording.
