RINGO THE STARR
Review date: 2007-12-04 Rating: 10 out of 10

I AM NOT GOING TO BORE YOU WITH A PROLONGED BORING HISTORY OF RINGO BECAUSE I THINK BY NOW IF YOU DONT KNOW MUCH ABOUT HIM AT THIS TIME YOU MUST HAVE BEEN HIDING UNDER A ROCK FOR THE BEST PART OF 45 YEARS. I AM A VERY BIG BEATLES FAN AND I ALSO LOVE THEIR SOLO WORK (GEORGE HARRISON BEING THE BEST FOR ME PERSONALLY) BUT TO BE HONEST I NEVER GAVE RINGO A CHANCE UNTIL THIS RELEASE. SURE I THOUGHT ABOUT IT MANY A TIME BUT YELLOW SUBMARINE JUST KEPT RINGING IN MY EARS. ANYWAY I THOUGHT I WOULD GIVE IT A CHANCE AND BOY AM I GLAD I DID. THE CD IS FULL OF LITTLE GEMS AND GREAT ROCKERS AND IT HAS ME SMILING TAPPING MY FEET ALL THE WAY THROUGH. SO STAND UP SIR RINGO OF STARR YOU HAVE PROVED YOURSELF WORTHY OF POST BEATLES GREATNESS AND DARE I SAY IT, YES I DO DARE, I ENJOY LISTENING TO IT MORE THAN THE BEST OF JOHN LENNON.

Where's the DIGI-PACK?
Review date: 2007-09-05 Rating: 8 out of 10

A recent Beatles fan magazine quotes EMI as saying that the deluxe collector's edition comes in a digipack fold-out version. Has anyone seen this, and is AMAZON going to identify this particular product IF it is actually released?

I have so much respect for Ringo coming through his booze/drugs frenzy with the love and support of his wife Barbara, and he's STILL ALIVE! Rock on, Ringo! And thank you for giving us a great, fun, and wonderful sounding CD, with a bonus DVD. How cool!

And if you don't have his Christmas CD, GET IT!

Ringo's shining Starr!
Review date: 2007-09-04 Rating: 10 out of 10

Ringo Starr, eh? The last time he was in the charts was back in 1992, and then only for a week. His previous nine albums all failed to even hear the starters gun. In fact it's been 33 years since 'Goodnight Vienna' charted but this 'best of' compilation deserves to put that to right.

Including a little help from his friends John, Paul, George, Stephen Stills, Elton John and Eric Clapton (although, sadly, not all at the same time), 'Photograph: The Very Best of Ringo Starr' is on the shelves now and its worth getting. The first four of this 20 track collection are sing-a-long pop at its best. Add in 'Hey Baby', 'Only You' and 'Act Naturally' and you'll be duetting on half the songs whilst in the car.

Although there's nothing from his Christmas CD included here, which is a shame, the stand out songs of the remainder are 'Early 1970', 'Beaucoups of Blues' and the Lennon penned, 'I'm The Greatest' and 'Good Night Vienna'. Not only that, the remastering has made the early songs crystal clear: this one is light years ahead of the miserly 10 track 'Blast from Your Past' collection.

The second disc here is a DVD of five promo films made in the 70s and one from 1989. The picture quality isn't that great but there won't be many hands showing when it comes to having seen any of these. Oh, there's also a brief TV advert from 1974 promoting Ringo's 'Goodnight Vienna' LP, complete with John Lennon voiceover.

There may well be those whom ask "Ringo who?" Just tell them he used to be in group that made a few records and also happened to be one of the four most famous people on the planet.

Buy it!
